About the project
Bowen Street Press acknowledges the people of the Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung language groups of the eastern Kulin Nation on whose unceded lands we conduct the business of the BSP. Bowen Street Press respectfully acknowledges their Ancestors and Elders, past and present. Bowen Borough was created by Bowen Street Press in collaboration with RMIT Bachelor of Arts students. Editors include Portia Abbott, Vanessa Aziz, Molly Davidson, Meg Kennedy, Kyi Yin Min Khin, Amber Le Fevre, Parth Rahatekar, and Chloe Robinson. This project was done for educational purposes only.
We want to thank our writers, who have contributed their creative pieces to our art writing village, Bowen Borough. This project is an accumulation of talented and dedicated authors who have written essays and short stories for us to showcase. We appreciate their willingness to experiment with their writing to create something truly unique.
A big thank you to Hailey Leimena, who illustrated our village and rooms on a tight schedule and created something warm, happy, and nostalgic. Bowen Borough wouldn’t be the same without her.
BSP would like to thank the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), the Australian Centre of Contemporary Arts (ACCA), and Buxton Contemporary for representing the artworks featured in this project and inspiring our writers through their exhibitions. We appreciate their generosity in allowing us to use their images to display the artworks.
Thank you to Zoe and Sarah for bringing us together to create such a meaningful and fun collaboration. We appreciate your guidance and encouragement in bringing together our vision for the project.
