Bored of your usual avo smash? Want to try something new, crazy and delicious? You’ve come to the right place! Here are a few of our favourite toast combos, most of which we guarantee you haven’t tried (or heard of) before. Turn that toaster up to two and get preppin’!
AVOCADO AND JAM
Sounds odd, but it’s the perfect toast-topper for those who have a sweet tooth but want to be semi-healthy.
Hot tip: Try this with blackberry or strawberry jam.
PEANUT BUTTER AND CHERRY TOMATOES
This combination is surprisingly sweet, and keeping the tomatoes cool leaves a lovely fresh taste in your mouth.
Hot tip: Use smooth, natural peanut butter instead of regular crunchy. Trust us on this one—it wasn’t pretty.
BUTTER AND PICKLES
A daring combo that’s as strange as it is flavoursome.
Hot tip: Try a sweet mustard pickle spread on toast too!
RICOTTA, STRAWBERRIES AND HONEY
To be enjoyed at any time of the day as a snack or to fit in an extra serve of fruit.
Hot tip: Try this with blueberries or figs.
MASHED POTATO
Potato + bread = an always tasty carb combo. Think of this as the breakfast version of a chip butty.
Hot tip: Be prepared for a lot of prep work for this topper or have mash with your dinner the night before. Hello leftovers!
TAHINI, BANANA, PISTACHIO AND CINNAMON
A combination of some classic flavours that make you feel like you’re eating cake for breakfast. Who doesn’t want to eat cake for breakfast?!
Hot tip: Spread out the cinnamon so you limit the risk of any choking hazards and watch out for those pistachios—they have a tendency to fly off your toast.
OUR TOP FIVE BREADS TO TURN INTO TOAST:
Sourdough—Need we say more?
Vienna—A close second to our main fave.
Brioche—C’mon, brioche is amazing.
Mixed grain—Yes, we’re healthy.
Raisin—An old favourite.
