HOW DO WE EXPERIENCE MEDIA?
HOW DO WE EXPLORE MEDIA?
HOW DO WE COMBINE THE TWO?
Media is a juggernaut that influences almost every element of modern life. It frames our ways of seeing and being, from the political to the social. As modern culture evolves and new technologies develop, so too does media. Experiential Explorations in Media is an examination of media and its ubiquitous influence on self and society. The research contained within this anthology:
looks at ways of applying traditional filmmaking techniques to 360-degree video
examines the suitability of fictocriticism as a form of writing about motherhood
explores the media’s representation of sexual harassment cases post #MeToo
examines Twitter’s role as a vehicle for two-way discourse between politicians and citizens
investigates the strengths of experiential and creative advertising campaigns
unpacks the influence of male body positive advertising on Instagram users
explores the establishment of a queer documentary editing methodology
examines the Soviet montage methods from 1920s Russian filmmakers and how these techniques are still relevant to filmmakers today.
Edited by Dr Emsie Arnoldi, this is the third iteration of RMIT University’s Professional Research Anthology, published by the Bowen Street Press.
